November 2016 | ZDF.de successfully relaunched

On October 28, the German public broadcaster ZDF relaunched its website and media library at the push of a button, creating a user-friendly portal for video on demand, live streaming and up to date information. Together with the digital agency Exozet and Max-IT, Condat accompanied the channel in repositioning itself with a fundamentally revised digital offer in a fast changing broadcast world. With ZDF.de relaunch, one of the largest public broadcasters in Europe takes a pioneering role and sets new standards in the sector.

Condat introduces innovative key technologies

In core areas of the new online service, Condat technology ensures a contemporary, optimized user experience. In the newly created “My ZDF” section, viewers can access personal video recommendations, which are based, among other things, on portal usage and the preferences of other users watching the same content. This feature is based on an intelligent, semantic recommendation technology, which is also used in the search function of the new portal. With flexible filters, search results can be limited and sorted by relevance. In future, a language search for finding videos will be implementated. Beside the development of the semantic search and recommendation components, Condat seamlessly integrated all modules of the new solution into the content management system (CMS) Subshell Sophora, which is used for all non-linear playout at ZDF. The resarch project InVID that Condat is part of together with five european partners has become a member of the non-profit Initiative First Draft News in late august this year.
